Volunteering

Welcome to the Gratiot County Animal Control volunteer program. Gratiot County Animal Control recognizes the importance and need of volunteers dedicated to the care and socialization of unwanted animals within our community and beyond. Thank you for your interest in serving as a volunteer. Participation in the Gratiot County Animal Control volunteer program helps support Animal Control in the ultimate goal of humane treatment, socialization, and adoption of our animals.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization. Whether your knack is stuffing envelopes, cuddling with cats, giving dogs baths, or walking dogs, you are making a positive contribution and difference in the lives of the animals at the shelter.

Volunteer hours are Tuesday-Saturday anytime we are open. We are open Monday: 12 p.m. - 5 p.m., Tuesday-Friday: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Saturday: 10 a.m. -1 p.m. Please call before you make your drive to make sure we are here. This is because we are first responders, we may have to close unexpectedly.

Donations

Animal Control and the shelter is funded through Gratiot County, grants, and donations. Each dollar is worth a magnitude of worth to the animals and our community as we strive to find a home and protect Gratiot County.

If you wish to make monetary donations we take cash, check, or card at the shelter. Monetary donations are used for animal health and supplies. We also accept supplies such as food, toys, blankets, etc. Buy new or we also accept open and gently used items. See our full donation list or Amazon Wishlist. Because our shelter is small sometimes, we run out of storage room and we donate supplies to public instead of throwing them away. Donations can be delivered directly to the shelter or drop them off anytime we are open!
