About the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC)
The LEPC is charged with the duties of the federal Emergency Planning and Community Right-To-Know Act (EPCRA) of 1986. The LEPC’s purpose is to:
- Develop and maintain Superfund Amendments Reauthorization Act (SARA) Community and First Responder Right to Know hazardous materials emergency plans
- Increase awareness of first responders
- Reduce threats/hazards from hazardous materials
- Support Gratiot County Emergency Management Program based upon the LEPC’s vision, mission, and goals
