Getting Here & Parking
The Gratiot County Courthouse is located in historic downtown Ithaca, Michigan, at the intersection of Main and Center Streets. The street address for the main section of the building (the 1901 Facade) is:

The Gratiot County Sheriff and Gratiot County Jail are located in the building immediately east of the main complex.
Ithaca, Michigan, is located less than 10 miles from the geographic center of lower Michigan, directly on the US 27 expressway that runs North-South through the center of the state. Approximate travel times include: Lansing - 45 to 50 minutes; Mt. Pleasant - 20 to 25 minutes; Saginaw or Midland - 50 to 60 minutes; Grand Rapids - 80 to 90 minutes.
From the South (Including St. Johns, Lansing, Detroit)
Once on Northbound US 27, proceed north to the exit signed Business US 27 - Ithaca. After exiting the freeway, turn right and proceed west approximately 1 mile to the first traffic signal. The courthouse will be located on your left.
From the North (Including Mt. Pleasant & All Points North)
Once on Southbound US 27, proceed south to the exit at the east end of Ithaca, signed Washington Road (This will be the second Ithaca area exit). After exiting the freeway, turn right and proceed west approximately 1 mile to the first traffic signal. The courthouse will be located on your left.
From the East (Including the Tri-Cities, the Thumb, & Flint)
If coming from the Tri-Cities region (Saginaw, Midland, Bay City) or the Thumb, go to M-46 and proceed west to St. Louis. At the first traffic signal in St. Louis, turn left and head south on State Road approximately 8 miles to downtown Ithaca. At the traffic signal, turn left and head one block east to the next traffic signal. The courthouse is on the right side of the road (Center Street) just past this traffic signal.
For all points near or south of M-57, including Flint, take M-57 west to US 27. Proceed as in From the South above. For all points north of the Tri-Cities region, proceed either to US-27 and follow the directions From the North above, or proceed to M-46 and follow the directions for the Tri-Cities.
From the West (Including Grand Rapids, Greenville, Stanton)
If coming from the Grand Rapids region, take M-21 east, through St. Johns, and to the US 27 interchange. Go North on US 27 and follow the directions From the South as above. If coming from the Greenville region, take M-57 east to the US 27 interchange. Go North on US 27 and follow the directions From the South as above.
If coming from the Stanton region, take Montcalm County Road 522 (Ithaca Road) east. At the Gratiot County line, the road becomes Washington Road. Continue on Washington Road 12 miles to downtown Ithaca. Proceed through the first traffic signal to the second, at the corner of Main Street. The courthouse is on the right side of the road (Center Street) just past this traffic signal.
For all points North-West, including Edmore, Lakeview, and Big Rapids, proceed east to US 27 and follow the directions From the North.
Visitor & Juror Parking
Visitor and juror parking can be found in number of locations surrounding the courthouse, all free-of-charge. Designated visitor parking can be found in the lot running between the courthouse and the Gratiot County Sheriff's Office and Jail. Entry to this lot is from Center Street.
Visitors and jurors can also park in pull-in spots along Main Street (along the west side the complex) and in parallel parking along Newark Street (south of the complex) and Jeffery Avenue (east side of the complex). Additional parking can be found in the Gratiot County Parking Lot at the corner of Newark and Main Streets, adjacent to the First Presbyterian Church.
Handicap Parking
Parking for persons with disabilities is available in the circle drive on the west side of the complex. Entrance to this area is from Main Street. The entrance to the building from this circle drive is the only wheelchair-accessible entrance into the building.
Short Term Parking
Short term parking for delivery or service vehicles is also located in the circle drive off Main Street. It is requested that all deliveries to the Courthouse, including both the main building and the 65B District Court, be made at the circle drive entrance. Deliveries to the Sheriff's Office and Jail should be made directly to that building, in the drive between the main courthouse and the jail building.
Travel by Plane
The Gratiot County area has access to multiple airports within short distance. Both Capitol City Airport (Lansing Area) and MBS International Airport (Saginaw/Midland area) are less than one hour by car from Ithaca. Bishop International Airport (Flint) and Kent County International Airport (Grand Rapids Area) are both approximately one and a half hours away by car.
Detroit Metro (Wayne County Metropolitan International Airport ), a major US hub airport, is approximately 2.5 hours by car. Additionally, small private planes and charter flights can be flown from the Gratiot County Airport, located approximately 6 miles northwest of Ithaca.
Travel by Train
Amtrak provides daily train service to its Lansing station via its trains between Chicago and Toronto. Amtrak also provides bus links between the Lansing station and other Amtrak stations for passengers wishing to use other train routes.
The Lansing station, located directly adjacent to the US 127 freeway at the Trowbridge Road/Michigan State University exit in East Lansing, is a short 45 minute drive from Ithaca. Visit the Amtrak website.
