What We Do: Planning, Preparedness, Recovery, & Mitigation
Gratiot County Emergency Management’s purpose is to use a public/private whole community approach to prevention and planning, protection, recovery, and mitigation throughout the county.
Gratiot County Emergency Management is responsible for:
- Coordinating support from the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) as requested during any emergency
- Develop/maintain public/private relationships to enhance overall community emergency preparedness
- Maintaining the Gratiot County Emergency Operations Plan (EOP)
- Providing training to essential personnel
Disaster Shelters
Gratiot County Emergency Management can access up to 29 American Red Cross shelter locations within Gratiot County. American Red Cross volunteers at the request of Emergency Management will open and staff appropriate shelters as required during a disaster. Disaster Shelter locations and instructions for the public will be communicated through traditional media, social media, and 211.
Training & Exercises
Additionally, Gratiot County Emergency Management regularly participates in training and various levels of exercises from the local, regional, state, and federal levels of government. Gratiot County Emergency Management encourages community as well as individual emergency preparedness, and welcomes supportive participation at Local Emergency Planning Committee meetings.
